Before we explain how to delete a layout in TradingView, first let’s discuss why you would want to delete a layout in TradingView.
The first point is that TradingView sets a limit on how many layouts you can have according to your paid subscription plan size. So if you are on one of their lower priced plans, you will have a specific limit on how many layouts you can save or have. For example, you can’t have more than 10 layouts.

To further complicate things, TradingView’s layout interface is easy to mess up, and they have an Auto-Save feature which tends to save your layouts when you are in a “messed up” state on your charts.
The save chart button is combined with the chart name and so often times people save a broken or modified chart when they actually intend on reloading the layout template.
The proper way to not accidentally overwrite your layout or chart would be to use the dropdown arrow next to the chart name and load a new chart, and then go back to your original chart without saving it, and without overwriting it. This complicated interface design makes it such that it is all to easy to accidentally overwrite your charts and layouts in TradingView and so you tend to burn through your 10 layout limit very quickly.
The solution to this issue, apart from learning how to reload your chart layout without saving it, is to also learn how to delete any unwanted or unused layouts.
In the upper right hand corner, click on the down arrow next to your current layout. Scroll to the bottom of that dropdown menu and click on “Load Layouts”.

Remove Layouts

Once you have removed any unwanted layouts, you can recreate the layout from the template file or from scratch.
